Oxygen Regulators

FPI’s diluter demand oxygen regulators have nearly 70 years of flight experience and have stood the test of time as one of the most durable regulators ever manufactured. Whether for warbird restoration, thermal wave soaring or high altitude aircraft development, FPI combines this proven design with new materials and processes that result in a product that will provide years of trouble-free service.

Oxygen Regulators

Part Specifications:

  • A-12A per AN6004 and MIL-R-6018

Automatically mixes ambient air with supplied oxygen or provides continuous flow of 100 percent oxygen when adjusted accordingly. The amount of oxygen is delivered on demand and increases systematically with altitude.

  • Supply operating pressure 50 to 1800 psig
  • Weight 2 lbs
  • Suitable for altitudes to 32,000 ft.
  • Ambient and supply oxygen filters
  • Diluter control lever for 100% oxygen use regardless of altitude
  • Emergency regulator by-pass valve
  • Serrated outlet elbow for precise positioning of mask-to-regulator hose
  • A-14 per MIL-R-6371

Designed with the same diluter demand characteristics of the A12-A, this regulator also provides a manual adjustment for increased force against exhalation in order to maintain sufficient oxygen pressure in the lungs at higher altitudes.

  • Supply operating pressure 50 to 1800 psig
  • Weight 2.25 lbs
  • Suitable for altitudes to 45,000 ft.
  • Ambient and supply oxygen filters
  • Diluter control lever for 100% oxygen use regardless of altitude
  • Adjustable dial supplies varying pressure loads for altitudes from 30,000 to 45,000 ft.
  • Serrated outlet elbow for precise positioning of mask-to-regulator hose

In addition to the manufacturing of factory new regulators, FPI also provides overhaul services and re-certification for both the A12-A and A-14 regulator using new OEM components.

Both regulator models 1600 and 1550 also provide a 1/8” NPT port for connection of FPI’s P/N 1625 flow indicator or “blinker”, created specifically for use with diluter demand regulators. Designed in accordance with specification AN6029, this component provides positive visual indication of oxygen flow through the movement of a shutter mechanism or “lips”. The integrated design also includes mounting holes for cockpit or bulkhead installation.

Altitude compensating pressure regulators are designed to increase system regulator outlet pressure at higher altitudes and conversely reduce pressure as altitude decreases. This action effectively reduces oxygen at lower altitudes while maintaining required minimums, thus conserving oxygen. Specified flow requirements are achieved typically through the use of a .016 nominal diameter orifice, positioned either in the constant flow mask outlet or the mask connector assembly.

Two models are available – P/N 5555 and P/N 5200 with surge valve for pressure activated drop units.

Inlet Operating Pressure: 70 PSIG +/- 10 PSIG (Corrected for Altitude) Inlet Proof Pressure: 120 PSIG Inlet Burst Pressure: 160 PSIG Operating Temperature: 5°F to 158°F (-15°C to 70°C) Operating Altitude Range: Sea Level to 40,000 feet Minimum Flow Rate (Altitudes / flows shown are for reference only without orifice):

P/N 5555 90 LPM-NTPD - Sea Level @ 3 PSIG min outlet pressure 115 LPM-NTPD – 40,000 ft @ 31 PSIG min outlet pressure

P/N 5200 0 flow/ pressure @ Ground 8 LPM-NTPD – 10,000 ft @ 5 PSIG min outlet pressure 106 LPM-NTPD - 35,000 ft @ 42 PSIG min outlet pressure
